Acerca de C M Harris

Charity Michelle Harris spent her childhood not knowing how different she was. As she got older and experienced hard times all she could wish for was to be normal, but who is to say what normal is. Charity eventually discovered that not only was it okay to be different but that being different is quite beautiful. Whether you are tall, short or can’t use your legs at all, you are amazing just the way you are. Charity was born in the Midwest in Tulsa, Oklahoma and at the age of 7 moved with her family to Los Angeles. Soon after moving to California, Charity was diagnosed with Charcot Marie-Tooth Disease (CMT) and no, it has nothing to do with teeth. CMT is a neuromuscular disease that causes progressive muscle weakness, there are multiple different forms of the disease and Charity has the rare and most severe form of it known as Type 3 – Dejerine-Sottas. At the age of 22 Charity was struck by another rare condition called Trigeminal Neuralgia which is a chronic pain condition that affects the trigeminal nerve, which carries sensation from your face to your brain. It is an excruciatingly painful condition known as «The Suicide Disease.» At the age of 25 she underwent a procedure called Microvascular Decompression that helped relieve the pain tremendously but because it is bilateral it is a pain she continues to manage. In 2015, Charity received her Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Design and minor in Marketing Management from California Polytechnic University, Pomona. She later received her certification as a Certified ADA Coordinator in 2018. Charity decided to write What If We Were All The Same! because she was a child who grew up feeling that she wasn’t good enough or deserved to have dreams of her own, since she felt marginalized from her peers and adults around her. This book is for every child to realize that everyone is different from each other and that the labels of being «normal» or «different» should not even be a factor. Every child deserves the freedom to be who they are whether they are short, tall, skinny, bald, dark skin, light skin, wear glasses, uses a wheelchair or anything else. All children should feel accepted and included by their peers.
